2009 Dinner Dance Pictures
We would like all those who were able to attend this years function
for showing their support for our recent retirees. We'd also like to extend a special thanks to Congressman Peter King
for attending as he has been a strong supporter of Local 56 and of LIRR labor as well.

Communications Holiday/
Retirement Party

Brothers,
I would like to
thank all of the Local 56 members who purchased the red Union shirts over the past few weeks. Not only were the shirts were
sold to promote solidarity amongst our members, they also enabled us to help a fellow Brother who was in distress for the
holidays. Brother Gerry Glennon (Comm Signalman), has two young children at home who are physically challenged. Recently,
his son had a surgery that required Gerry to miss quite a bit of work, which in turn, exhausted all of his vacation and personal
days. Needless to say, because of the generosity of our membership and their continued commitment towards solidarity, we were
able to raise enough funds to hand Gerry a check for $1,100.00 at the Communications Christmas party at Flanagans in Babylon.
With over 80 Brothers past & present looking on in attendance and the ability to make a difference, it personified
the true meaning of the Holidays! THANK YOU ALL!!!
Fraternally,
William White
Editors
note: Brother White's efforts in this matter should be lauded as well, for without them there would've been no
"Red Shirts" and nothing of note for the Glennon family.
Toast
To Our Troops Fundraiser
The fundraiser took place June
20 and we'd
like to thank all who came out
in support this
worthy cause which raised nearly $10,000.00.
Our local New York troops will
surely appreciate
the supplies that they'll be recieving
overseas
in Afghanistan.
